PCR Bike Tour Day 15 of 39 Guadalupe to Pismo Beach. Short ride and needed rest

Last night I was able to get a pretty restful sleep. The skunks and the screeching owl didn’t bother me. I ended up being the only one camping at the fire station that night. This was the first night camping where I had very heavy dew when I woke up. Not exactly what I needed because they want all the campers gone by 7 AM. Trying to dry my gear out before putting it away and repairing my broken spoke made me miss this deadline. But they didn’t hassle me at all about it.

The statues and figures at the fire station made it a little creepy at night. I had a few, “is that a person over there” moments.
I’ve got good use of this sharpie, marking the wheel to keep track of which spokes have broken and been replaced.

As I departed and began to ride, the wind was already beginning to pick up. But it was nowhere near the intensity as the previous night. The trouble with my wheel, the wind the night before and the lack of sleep made me weary. I need some rest to reenergizing.

I called my wife to see how far north she had moved on from our short gear exchange meetup the night before. She was just getting ready to head to San Francisco. So she helped find us a hotel in the next town up at Pismo Beach where I was headed.

These hard-working pickers would run back and forth from the central collection area and their picking spot.
This was another busy agriculture area. A lot of these temporary greenhouse (shade) type canopies are seen across the area.

Pismo Beach is an active town with lots of restaurants and shops in the old dense downtown area.

Pickleball at Pismo Beach, another hobby of mine.
Accommodations for the night and decisions on gear.

Now I can get some rest, shower, food and in the morning when the bike shop open, maybe even more spokes. Possibly even a full rest day tomorrow.

Ride summary: 2/10 difficulty, 17 miles with 750 feet climbing. Mostly clear with some clouds and 60s temp. Mild headwinds. Today’s ride detailed GPS.

  1. I hope you get some good rest and are able to recharge.

The town of Pismo Beach looks very nostalgic.
