After a great rest in Redondo Beach, I wanted to make it through the rest of the Los Angeles area beaches and to the next campground.
Today the weather finally cleared a little bit although the temperature remained comfortable and not too hot. This seems to bring out more people as well.
Redondo Beach seamlessly connects with Hermosa, Manhattan and playa Del Ray beaches. Over nine miles of continuous paths, beach access and volleyball courts.
Venice beach is a happening place. This is what I think of when I picture California beaches; lots of people watching, street vendors, unique activities, eccentric stores and restaurants and of course the outdoor muscle beach gym
After 5 miles of beach path returning back to the road to head into Malibu.
There were no bicycle shops nearby so I decided to continue carefully to my planned camping location and stay the night there. After I got to camp, I called shops in the upcoming town of Oxnard to find a new wheel. My wheel requirements are uncommon and of course the shops didn’t have it. Tomorrow I plan to ride into town anyway and try to find a solution.
Ride summary: 5/10 difficulty, 45 miles with 1375 feet climbing. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy but comfortable temperatures. First significant headwinds towards the late part of the ride.

Bummer about the spoke breakage. That’s a little unnerving to have two in such a short period of time. I hope you can find a solid solution.
I always amazed at how close people are willing to build to the ocean. I know how dynamic the ocean waters can be. Perhaps it is much more predictable down there and less drastic of tidal changes and wind surges. Even so, I don’t know how well I’d sleep in one of those homes during a windy night and high tides.

I think the tides are more stable then the Pacific Northwest but still I see what you are saying
